Fun But Make It Fashion - Vol 3

I run a fashion/style challenge over on Instagram every once in a while called #funbutmakeitfashion. Its really fun and inspires me to try new things and also I quite enjoy being prompted on what to post on Instagram - as I often get in a bit of a content rut. You can see the first installment here, which has made me realise I didn't blog the second one!!

The third installment ran from Monday 3rd May for 5 days. I wanted to include prompts around going out and doing things, as the UK is starting to open up a little more. However, I didnt want to make anyone feel left out if maybe they werent able to be out and about or maybe didnt feel comfortable with it yet - so decided to make the prompts things that no one can really do yet. So they were hypothetical scenarios, what would you wear on holiday, what would you wear to a gig etc...

I Want to Get Away

This prompt was to wear something for the place you are longing to go, your dream getaway. I decided to go for a city break to Paris, I adore Paris and have so many fond memories of trips there, I would love to be able to take Zoe and show her around. I am much more of a city break person than a sun holiday (ginger problems).

I styled my Monki Gingham Maxi Dress with some lilac M&S flats, a sun hat from H&M and a good book - imagining myself people watching outside a cafe.

Remember gigs?

Day two was all about going to see live music or theatre, I wanted people to share their dream gig and what they'd wear. I opted for a Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Karen O gig. I long to see them live and was so jealous of the sheer volume of people commenting that they'd seen them and they were amazing.

I really felt like I got more into live music in 2018-2019 and saw quite a few shows from Lizzo, Bikini kill, First Aid Kit and Aurora. I had some tickets booked for 2020 but obviously they were pushed back.

I wore some Asos denim shorts with my snag tights and fishnets, a leopard vest from Tu, and a shirred crop top from Monki.

Life's A Beach

Day three saw me in my garden at 9am in the morning in a swimming costume, it was not the weather for it, in fact 2 hours later it was hailing pretty hard! I really love these photos though. Seeing bigger bodies in swimwear living their best lives is something I personally love to see. I am wearing my 3 year old rainbow swimsuit from Monki.

Bossing It

For this prompt I decided I didn't just want to rock something I wear to work everyday, I decided to interpret the prompt as dressing for my dream job. I have always wanted to do something creative, I originally studied Fashion Design and never pursued it as a career for various reasons - But I do dream of having my own creative outlet/business one day. Just need to find the time.

I teamed my new Lucy and Yak blue and pink spotty dungarees with an old primark stripe top - I honestly could live in this outfit and various combinations of it - dungarees are just the BEST.

I ended up not posting a 5th day image, as I forgot I was in the office all day - which did not lend itself to formal wear - then the weekend was so busy I just didn't get around to it! Whoops
